Sophie Lavaud: conquering 14 peaks over 8,000 m
Following her ascent of Everest, Sophie Lavaud has set herself an ambitious goal: to reach the fourteen peaks above 8,000 metres in altitude.
On June 26, 2023, she achieved this feat: by reaching the summit of Nanga Parbat in Pakistan, she marked the end of her impressive Himalayan journey, an ambitious project she had begun in 2012.

With her triple nationality, Sophie Lavaud becomes THE first Frenchwoman to have climbed all 14 of the world's 8000 m peaks, the first Swiss woman and THE first Canadian.
Sophie Lavaud began her career in the luxury hotel sector, as Sales and Marketing Director at the Hôtel Richemond. She then moved on to the cosmetics industry, before running, with her brother, a company specializing in the organization of events in the financial sector. It was at the age of thirty that she discovered her passion for mountaineering.
Conferences where mountaineering meets business
In her talks, Sophie Lavaud speaks with great simplicity about her exceptional experiences and draws analogies between mountaineering and business. By sharing her keys to success, she passes on her teachings on individual and collective motivation, determination and leadership.
Sophie Lavaud is also actively involved in humanitarian actions. As a volunteer ambassador for the NGO Terre des Hommes, she supports projects in the regions where her expeditions take place. As a Recco® ambassador, she organizes training sessions in Nepal and Pakistan to raise awareness of avalanche risks among high-altitude sherpas and porters.
