Rémi Camus: charity adventurer

Rémi Camus is a head waiter in a top restaurant when he learns of Jamel Balhi's feat of running across the Americas. When he read the book, something clicked. It inspired him to dare, to change his life and become an adventurer in his own right. From that moment on, Rémi Camus multiplied his experiences off the beaten track, pushing back limits that were thought to be insurmountable.

So, in October 2011, Rémi Camus decided to run across Australia, from South to North. During this solo, unassisted race, he covered the 5,400 kilometers between Melbourne and Darwin. He gave this personal challenge a significant charitable and human dimension. Over and above the sporting feat, this adventure enabled him to :

  • raise public awareness of the work of the Association Française du Syndrome de Lowe, a rare disease affecting the entire nervous system
  • and meet the aboriginal communities he encounters along the way.

Conferences to raise awareness of the preciousness of water.

However, after suffering a terrible thirst during this journey, Rémi Camus became fully aware of the preciousness of water and the vital need to preserve it. His subsequent adventures will aim to raise awareness, educate and hammer home a message of preservation of our ecosystem, particularly our seas and oceans.

In 2013, he hydrospeeded down the 4,400 kilometers of the Mekong River, from Tibet to Vietnam. His aim is to learn about, understand and analyze local populations' access to water. Faced with the growing scale of unchecked pollution, he felt the urge to get involved in the "Plastic to Oil" project, which aims to turn plastic waste into fuel.

In 2018, Rémi Camus resolutely committed himself to raising public awareness of his cause by taking part in "WILD, la course de survie", organized by M6, and from which he emerged victorious.

Wishing to raise awareness of the state of our seas and oceans, still in 2018, he launches the Tour de France à la nage. In three and a half months, he swam from Dunkirk to Monaco, a distance of 2,650 kilometers. At the end of his adventure, he received a warm welcome from HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

In his talks, Rémi Camus modestly shares his exceptional adventures and his commitment to the environment. He offers an immersive, entertaining and instructive experience, highlighting both the splendor and the vulnerability of our planet. What's more, he actively encourages interaction with his audience, seeking to create an enriching and engaging experience for all.

Rémi Camus is a member of the Société des Explorateurs Français.
