Since childhood, Raphaël Domjan has nurtured a passion for adventure and exploration. As an eco-explorer, he is firmly convinced that today's knowledge and technologies offer us the opportunity to foster sustainable development. His primary objective is to promote solar energy as a means of countering climate change.
In 2001, Raphaël Domjan co-founded Horus Networks, the very first solar-powered Internet hosting company.
In 2004, aware of the urgency of climate challenges, he designed the PlanetSolar catamaran. It was on this boat, powered entirely by solar energy, that he completed the first solar-powered circumnavigation of the globe between 2010 and 2012.
In 2015, in the company of sailor Anne Quémeré, Raphaël Domjan set out on a 300-kilometer voyage across the Arctic Ocean. Aboard a solar-powered kayak, they attempt to cross the Northwest Passage. This is the first polar solar navigation.
In 2020, he will make the first jump from an electric airplane and the first solar-powered freefall in aviation history aboard his solar airplane.
Today, with SolarStratos, Raphaël Domjan aspires to reach the stratosphere in a solar-powered aircraft. The SolarStratos aircraft, of which he is the initiator and pilot, offers a glimpse of what tomorrow's aviation and mobility could be like.
